AM-22 mile Long run at 6:45-7:15/mile pace. Did 5x2 mile at 5:20-40/mile on rolling terrain. Quite a bit cooler today. Felt pretty strong especially on the downs hitting 5:20 pace fairly easily.  JT trail and up to 7th east and back down again.

PM-8 miles easy at lunchtime at 7:30/mile pace or so. Neighborhood and Ft Union.

All I can say is "Wow"...mega mileage at an incredible pacing average.

You are running very strong right now, keep it up.

Steve your cranking out those miles. What's your next race?

From Superfly on Aug 27, 2008 at 22:50:30

Steve good job picking up the training. Stay smart about things and more importantly stay healthy. You'll be ready to roll come October.

I was going to say something about your crazy high mileage but these boys already beat me to it. Great job!

I'm taking a gradual cutdown soon. However, it has been a huge benefit and I hope when I cut down and increase the intensity that it will further pickup. It's just simple overload and supercompensation at work that is all. I don't plan on sustaining this level indefinitely as it only leads to staleness and overtraining..ie-slow performances.

Steve - do you ever read Nate Jenkins' training log? I forget the URL, but I've seen bits of it posted on letsrun. Similar stuff to what you are doing.

Wow! Is all I can say about that twelve day training program... Maybe next summer, or maybe not!

From steve ashbaker on Aug 28, 2008 at 17:50:40

It might work.. Just be very careful about listening to every little ache and niggle your body is giving you. And make sure that you SLEEP!!!

From wheakory on Aug 28, 2008 at 21:00:28

That's a completely insane training schedule. It would definitely test you in threshold miles, and how fit your body is to handle that schedule.
