Easy 9 miles this morning at 7:30ish avg pace.   Out to 106th via the trax loop and back up.  Heart rate was a little high today.  Gee.. I wonder why.  My hours at work are cut yet again to 16 total.  Some economic recovery we have here..

Upped the mileage a bit today because I want to see if my legs are truly recovered or not.  Nope, not quite yet.  Started feeling deadleg syndrome at 9 miles with no power in the legs very much at all.   And the strange thing I have noticed about my runs lately is that when I stop for a few minutes to talk to someone, or go into Deseret industries to look for something I come back out with my legs feeling much stronger and fresher than when I started.    Is this a circulation issue?  Blood sugar coming back to normal?  Or is it just a byproduct of a overtired body and a recent marathon?    Some days when I get up I feel like I was rolled up tighter than a elastic band and hit by a truck.  Only later in the day do I feel even marginally better.

Soooo.. the plan is to keep with the slower miles for a while to see if this is merely overtraining or something else like age.  I don't know really but I do know this I am definitely not ready mentally to retire with all the other burnout cases yet.   I still want to race like a twenty something dang it.   No.. scratch that.   I want to eat one for breakfast in another race sometime.

  Just kidding :)   Kind of..

AM-Easy 6 miles at 7/min pace.  Trax loop.  Watched the Cinderella Man today.  Cool movie and inspirational in a way.  I liked that one almost as much as Rocky.

PM-4 miles easy jog on 7th east. 8/min /mi pace.   I really enjoy this time of year, the smell of fall has a way of bringing back memories of being a kid.   I used to collect leaves and press them in binders I just wish I knew what became of them though.  This is a reminder to hold onto your keepsakes no matter how trivial or small.  Do it especially with your little ones because toward the end it may be all we have to remember those days by.    Sorry  I'm getting mushy today just bear with me.

AM-8 miles easy at 8/min pace.

PM-5 miles out and back.  Out at 8/min pace or so and back at just under 7/min pace.  13th east and gas station route.   I think next week I'll do an amateur MAP test to see if I'm progressing aerobically again.   I seem to be but we'll see..
